AYLF NEWSLETTER 2ND EDITION

Welcome to the third edition of the AYLF-Uganda Newsletter for the year 2022. Our theme for this edition is “Building Resilience”. The last 2 years have been quite harsh especially for young people in Uganda. The Pandemic, Global wars and the resultant economic crisis, disruptions in education and businesses have left the young people in this country disproportionately affected. Young leaders find themselves re- sponsible for a more disillusioned, sad, anxious and discouraged young population in and out of institutions of higher learning. More than ever, the young people need an infusion of hope and encouragement to be able to; Bounce back after the difficult times, deal with challenges with their heads held up, give things a go and continue trying their best, be strong on the inside and be able to cope with what life has thrown at them.

“When we learn how to become resilient, we learn how to embrace the beautifully broad spectrum of the human experience.” – David Gatete

AYLF AUG-DEC NEWSLETTER 2022

Africa Youth Leadership Forum (AYLF) is a collaborative initiative conceptualized and initiated in 2007 by a group of friends in Af- rica with a dream that leaders in Africa will know how to reconcile relationships, speak the truth without be- ing religious or divisive, see people without labels or stereotypes and ultimately love each other and those whom they lead. Our aim is to nurture a new breed of leaders who will transform the leadership culture in the communities they live in. We achieve this by reaching out to student leaders through mentoring programs set up in Universities cross the East African Region.

“My desire to use leadership as a way to help others and not gain as an individual grew.” – BAKIIZA ASHER
